New Town graduating class sets out for the summer

As the band played, 48 students who now call themselves graduates, crossed the stage at the Northern Lights Community Center Sunday afternoon, honored as the New Town High School graduating class of 2011.
With a class motto of “The Future belongs to those who believe in their dreams; capture your dream,” commencement took place with teacher Jim Helphrey speaking officially for the last time to the senior class. His advice was worldly, straight forward and perhaps the most important he has given these students. The class flower was purple and gold daisies and the class colors were purple and gold.
Members of the New Town School Board and Superintendent Marc Bluestone presented diplomas, a hand shake and the turn of the tassles as graduation unfolded.
