Baker elected president of farmers’ market and growers association
Marvin Baker has been elected to serve a one-year term as president of the North Dakota Farmers’ Market and Growers Association during its convention held last weekend in Bismarck.
Baker, who has served as a northwest representative on the board of directors since 2005, owns and operates North Star Farms with his wife Ilene, a certified organic vegetable operation at Carpio, in Ward County. Ilene serves as treasurer of the organization.
The Bakers are vendors at the North Prairie Farmers’ Market in Minot and are going into their third year of community supported agriculture, serving shareholders with in-season crops. Marvin Baker was also a vendor at a new farmers’ market that was started in New Town last year.
