Aubol welcomes National American Legion Auxiliary President to North Dakota

Although Marlys Aubol has completed her term as North Dakota Department President for the American Legion Auxiliary, she maintains ongoing service to the group. The New Town resident was on deck for the recent American Legion Winter Conference in Bismarck. Aubol assisted current president, Arla Roth, in welcoming the National American Legion Auxiliary president, Janet Jefford to North Dakota. It was her first trip to the state.
Jefford expressed some interest in the geography of our state according to Aubol.
"Janet commented that as she was landing, she saw empty squares of land and wondered where the people were, as she didn’t see any tall buildings." Aubol said. "We have one tall structure, at least by North Dakota standards, and that is our State Capitol, so that is where we headed. The Legislature is in session now, but they were taking a break, so we met with Senator John Warner, Minority Leader Kenton Onstad, and Representative Kylie Oversen."
At the state level, the American Legion and Auxiliary sponsor the Boys and Girls State programs for youth.
