Area, state GOP likes Santorum
Ron Paul wins New Town Caucus

Area voters had their say and while New Town Republicans gave a majority of their votes to Ron Paul, the rest of the district and the state gave a Super Tuesday victory to Rick Santorum.
Caucuses were held at the New Town Civic Center and in Berthold and Kenmare for voters in District Four. Forty three voters turned out for the caucus at the the Civic Center and nearly 40 percent gave their votes to Ron Paul. The final vote was:
17 Ron Paul (39.5 percent)
14 Rick Santorum  (32.5 percent)
9 Mitt Romney (21 percent)
3 Newt Gringrich (7 percent)
The final vote for the entire district reflected the statewide trend that gave Santorum a plurality of the vote.
39 Rick Santorum (45 percent)
28 Ron Paul (32 percent)
13 Mitt Romney (15 percent)
7 Newt Gringrich (8 percent)
