Area road projects making progress

Multiple road projects in the region are making progress, according to the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
Many roads in the area have been closed or under construction all summer, including N.D. Highway 8 between Stanley and the junction of Highway 23, Highway 23 west of New Town, and Highway 22 south of Mandaree. These roads are part of 670 miles of road projects in North Dakota this year.
Work on Highway 23 is expected to be completed this year, and Highway 22 is also expected be reopened by the end of the year. Highway 22 was one of four major routes in the state blocked by landslides this year along with N.D. Highways 73 and 1804 and U.S. Highway 85. Work on Highway 8 won’t be finished until next spring.
The state is also providing $142 million for work on county roads in western North Dakota. The funding is being divided between 59 county road projects.
