A call from the Hall
Area ranchers considered for Hall of Fame
By Jerry W. Kram
The horse binds the disparate cultures of North Dakota together. That’s what Rick Thompson, Executive Director of the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame believes.
That’s why the Hall, which is located in Medora, decided to have it’s 25th Annual Meeting on the Forth Berthold Reservation at the 4 Bears Event Center.
“We really wanted to come because the Native American culture is really entrenched in the Hall of Fame,” Thompson said. “It is one of our biggest things. We wanted people from across the state to see where we are coming from.”
At least 600 of the 700 trustee members of the NDCHOF foundation came to New Town for the annual meeting. While there, Thompson said they will be voting on this year’s candidates for induction to the hall, which will be announced in April. Thompson said this area is important to the history gathered in the Hall of Fame both from a rodeo and ranching perspective.
