Teachers: average benefits up 9 percent in 2 years
Pay hikes for teachers grew in the single digits over the past years. If the governor has his way there will be more pay increases tied to students’ successes.

After three days of playing cards in a Minot hotel, Dennis White Owl of New Town, walked away with a substantial amount of cash. White Owl finished sixth in the seventh annual North Dakota State Championship Poker Tournament held over the New Year’s weekend in the Vegas Hotel.

Legislators gear up for new session
In just a few days legislators from across the state will convene in Bismarck for the 62nd Legislative session. The session begins Tuesday, Jan. 4. District 4 legislators, Sen. John Warner, D-Ryder, and Reps. Tom Conklin, D-Douglas, and Kenton Onstad, D-Parshall, said they are looking forward to the session getting underway. District 4 includes portions of McLean, Mountrail, Ward, McKenzie, Mercer and Dunn counties.
