Baptist Church born again
A few weeks ago, a local landmark came tumbling down as the New Town Baptist Fellowship church was torn down. However, a new church is rising where the old church stood from the earliest days of New Town.
Area Vets to tour USS North Dakota
A group of veterans from Northwest North Dakota will be touring the submarine USS North Dakota in Connecticut and will then join with Korean War veterans for a tour of Washington, D.C.
Outlot 2 project approved
The City of New Town will finally see some housing go up on Outlot 2, 14 acres of city owned property on Sand Hill.

Even before the Bakken Boom, there were not enough places to live in New Town. Monday, the North Segment Development Corporation took the first of what may be many steps this summer to make affordable housing available in New Town.
Looking Forward: School district eyes expansion
New Town Public Schools haven’t grown like other schools around the Bakken. Part the reason is that New Town had a housing shortage that predates the oil boom and has only gotten worse, said School Superintendent Marc Bluestone.
One more try for Outlot 2
The ongoing saga of Outlot 2 took another turn as the New Town City Council rejected two bids to swap the 39 lot development on Sand Hill for a number of units for city employee housing.
Newspaper ‘hall’ dedicated
The North Dakota Newspaper Association Hall of Fame has found a prominent place in the new addition to the North Dakota Heritage Center in Bismarck.
