Way back in 2000, the 4 Bears Casino and Lodge dedicated its brand new events center with a concert by a young, up and coming country singer named Toby Keith. A decade and a half later, Keith is an undisputed superstar, but he returned to 4 Bears to be the first performer in the Casino and Lodge’s brand new Events Center.
A large crowd was on hand including tribal leaders, the mayors of New Town and Watford City and legislators to watch Three Affiliated Tribes Chairman Mark Fox cut the ribbon to officially open the venue.
4 Bears General Manager Pat Packineau said that it was just about two years ago that the Tribal Gaming Commission authorized the casino to approve the expansion using loans from the Three Affiliated Tribes. Packineau said the that meant the revenues to pay back those loans would stay on the Fort Berthold Reservation.
“It’s been a lot of work, but it’s really something to see a vision come to life,” Packineau said. “It started out as just a drawing on a desk. To see it gain legs as it went to an architect and eventually seeing the foundation going into the ground and the walls going up. It’s like a child that you see growing up and nurturing.”
