Winning farmers donates to Parshall Fire District

Parshall Rural Fire Protection District has received a $2,500 donation from Mountrail farmer Cynthia Billadeau and America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. The donation will contribute to the organization’s fundraising efforts to purchase an F450 grass-and-rescue truck.

"A very big reason for our existence is the support we receive financially from community members," said Kyle Christianson, fire chief and mayor of Parshall. "With the influx of people the last couple of years due to oil industry growth, we have seen an increase in the number of accidents and oil-related fires. As an all-volunteer organization, we rely on donations like this one from the Billadeau family to make the community a little safer for the 1,300 people we serve."

"In a way, our local farmers are a part of our department because they help to support us both financially and through their own experiences in protecting their land," continued Christianson. "Many have their own firefighting apparatus and will do whatever it takes to help a neighbor in need."
