Where did the snow go?

By Jerry W. Kram
It might be hard to remember, but for about six weeks after Thanksgiving, it looked like it was going to a winter for the record books with more than four feet of snow covering towns, farms, and pastures. As the 20th anniversary of the massively destructive Grand Forks flood approached, many were concerned that 2017 could see a replay of 1997.
It didn’t happen. March came in like a lamb and went out like a whole flock of lambs and mid-April is looking a lot like May on the North Shore. The floods feared in most of the state never happened, raising the question, where did all that water go?
