Water worries addressed by city

Water worries addressed by city
By Jerry W. Kram
Worries about the transition of Parshall’s water supply took up much of time at the regular meeting of the Parshall City Council Wednesday.
Teresa Sundvak and Darrell Hournbuckle represented the North Prairie Rural Water System in a request to the council to assign 400 gallons a minute from the city’s new water plant to the system to serve Plaza and rural residences north of Parshall. Hournbuckle said that when the plant was planned that amount of production was assigned to the Southern Mountrail Water Users.  That group later dissolved after passing a resolution assigning their rights to that water to North Prairie. Under the original contract, 650 gpm is assigned to the city of Parshall and 850 gpm belongs to the Fort Berthold Rural Water System. It was Hornbuckle and Sundvak’s understanding that both of the other parties to that contract would have to sign off before the assignment could be made.
