Three killed east of
Rice Lake

A pickup, driven by Marvin Ness, a 78 year old man from Douglas, was traveling west bound on Hwy. 23 near mile marker 101 east of Rice Lake and crossed into the east bound lane and striking Jonathon and Cara Zacher’s suburban head-on.
“The Silverado left the roadway to the south, coming to a rest upright, facing south, on the south slope of the highway,” Les Lokken with North Dakota Highway Patrol, said. “The suburban left the roadway to the south, coming to a rest on the passenger side, facing east in the south ditch. The suburban then started on fire and was fully engulfed in flames.”
