The sounds of Christmas all around

By Edna Sailor

If you listen closely, you may hear the sounds of Christmas coming at you as if like magic. It is not magic though. It is Amanda Blevins, music teacher and her students at the Lewis and Clark Elementary school in Plaza and the high school in Makoti. You might be one of the lucky ones hearing the strains of Silent Night, Here Comes Santa Claus and other yuletide favorites as they go floating along in the wind during frequent practices for the big Christmas programs coming up fast.

Blevins and her students in both schools are busy with their instruments, voices and performance skills. It is practice and more practice until the performances at Plaza Elementary School and Makoti High School. The programs are scheduled for December 14 at 7 p.m in Plaza and December 16 at 7 p.m. in Makoti.

So the musical question, "Do you hear what I hear?" will not go unanswered. The Fifth and Sixth grade band is preparing a medley of instrumental Christmas songs as they wind their way through the new scores of music on their stands.
