The Nuts and Bolts of 30 years in the hardware business

By Edna Sailor
There was cake and coffee at Brad Baker’s Hardware Hank in Parshall as he celebrated his thirtieth year in business this year.
All those years ago, Baker transitioned from the locker plant where he learned “the business end of things” to create a better life for his family. He felt fortunate to work with Leo Keller for awhile to gain even more knowledge. Then he bought the business and his legacy in the community began back in March, 1989.
This was not an easy time for Baker. His wife died and he wanted to provide a good living for his three children. With that in mind he started out with the Trustworthy Hardware brand for a time. That went well but an opportunity to transition to Hardware Hank presented itself. Baker thought it was a good move then and remains happy with his decision to this day.
In his easy going way, Brad says he just came to work every day, opened his doors and enjoyed his customers and his community. His children grew up in the business and his daughter still works with him today.
