Teens create PowerPoint, DVD for peers

Teens create PowerPoint, DVD for peers
A trio of Parshall guys is determined to influence how area teenagers act behind the wheel. They see how their peers sometimes act when they are behind the wheel and they hate to admit it, but they are not always impressed by teen driving techniques. With this in mind, the three Parshall juniors created a PowerPoint and DVD for young drivers. Their project is entitled Project DriveSmart.
Cole Hendrickson, Payton Two Crow and Harrison Zacher have teamed up for the second year in a row to let students know that driving smart is a very intelligent choice and they have the statistics to prove it. Last year they created displays for area schools and businesses and they talked to elementary students about being good passengers. This year they have used their technology skills to make an impact by compiling data and creating a DVD, featuring them, and also PowerPoint.
The students want fellow teenagers to know that many bad things can happen when teens don’t drive responsibly. “Many teenagers think they are good drivers but they are not,” said Zacher. “It takes experience to be a good driver,” he added. Most teens do not have a lot of experience, but they try to act like they do.”
