Streets, water addressed by city council

By Jerry W. Kram
Wrapping up projects for the year and thinking about 2020 were the main topics at the November regular meeting of the Parshall City Council.
City Engineer Jason Strand informed the council that contractors were able to finish paving Main Street despite challenges from wet and cold weather. The continuous rains in August and September put the Main Street project far behind schedule. With the area having snow storms in early October, Strand had warned the council the contractor may have had to just put down a thin layer of blacktop to get through the winter and finish the project in the spring.
Fortunately, late October and early November saw a return to normal fall weather and that allowed much of the work on Main Street and the Rock Museum road to be finished, as well as some landscaping around the museum. There are some areas of curb and gutter work yet to finished because it was too cold for concrete to set properly. That work, along with restoring topsoil and installing paving markings will be done in the spring. There is also some signage yet to be installed this fall.
