Mountrail County Sheriff Ken Halvorson has submitted reports to area communities on his department’s activities in 2011. Parshall had a 34 percent increase in sheriff’s calls for the year while New Town saw an increase of 32 percent.
In 2010, the Sheriff’s Department received 3,131 calls from Parshall. That rose to 4,193 in 2011. That averages out to about 11 and a half calls per day. Traffic citations were down more than half, from 220 in 2010 to 96 in 2011. Arrests increased by 2, from 19 in 2010 to 21 in 2011.
The arrests in Parshall included 9 for Driving Under the Influence, 3 Driving Under Suspension, 3 Minor In Consumption, and one each for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, Ingesting of Methamphetamine & Manufacture of Meth, Illegal Alien, MIC and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a McLean County Warrant for Child Support.
In 2010, the Sheriff’s Department received 6,242 calls from New Town. That rose to 8,229 in 2011. That averages out to about 22 and a half calls per day. Traffic citations were up by about 6 percent, from 400 in 2010 to 425 in 2011. Arrests increased by 4, from 77 in 2010 to 81 in 2011.
