Schwarz takes the reins at Parshall Schools

With a 42 year career in public education, Beth Schwarz brings a wealth of experience to her new job as superintendent of Parshall Public Schools.
The daughter of a Lutheran minister, Schwarz lived in many communities in North Dakota and Minnesota, including several years in Underwood as a child. She earned her college degree at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn and a Masters degree from St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minn. She received her superintendent’s certification from Mankato State University. She taught chemistry and physics for 17 years before going into administration.
For the last seven years, she was superintendent of schools in Grand Marais, Minn., on the north shore of Lake Superior. Before that she was principal at Lakeview Schools in Cottonwood, Minn.
“There was lots of Minnesota,”Schwarz said. “Now I am back to North Dakota. I lived in Underwood from the time I was two until I was in second grade. So I am kind of coming back around.”
Schwarz said she chose to come to Parshall because she prizes the rural character of the community. She also likes the challenge of working in a district where students face a lot of challenges and she can make a real difference in their lives.
