School starts for students as well as superintendent

Students in Parshall are finishing up their first week of school, as is new superintendent John Weidner.
Weidner said he couldn’t have wished for a smoother start to the school year, even if the year started with the sound of hammers and saws.
Construction is still moving forward with a new kitchen and improvements in the elementary school, Weidner said. The work is moving ahead smoothly and isn’t interrupting student learning. Until the kitchen is finished, students’ lunches are prepared at the high school and driven to the elementary school to be served.
“It’s looking very nice,” Weidner said.
The biggest project near the high school is completion of a new triplex for teacher housing. Weidner commended the contractor Brian Miles and his crew for completing the interior of the triplex in time for teachers to move in before the beginning of school. Miles is currently working on finishing work on the exterior of the building.
“They’ve really bent over backwards and hustled to get those things ready for the teachers in time,” Weidner said. “
