School seeks to prevent accidents
By Jerry W. Kram
An incident at Parshall Elementary School will lead to changes in how parents can pick up their children after school.
Elementary School Principal Anthony Esquibel reported to the Parshall School Board a minor accident occurred outside of the school on Tuesday. A student was walking across the street where the parent’s car was parked. Another car of a parent picking up their child backed out of the parking area in front of the school entryway and bumped the child crossing the street.
The district’s School Resource Officer handled the incident and the child was taken to the local clinic for examination and treatment. Esquibel said the child was not seriously hurt in the incident but it was a wake up call to take steps to prevent a more serious accident.
“The child is doing fine,” Esquibel said.
