School board splits on Reese renewal

In a hearing that lasted 11 hours, the Parshall School Board voted not to renew the contract of Elementary Principal Lewis Reese on a 3-2 vote.
Michelle Billadeau, Stacey Roberts and Jay Clauson voted not to renew the contract. Billy Johnson and Clover Little Soldier supported retaining Reese.
The hearing began at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20. It was stated by the school district’s attorney, Rachel Bruner Kaufman said that either party could request that the hearing be held in executive session, which would close the hearing to the public and press. Reese asked that the hearing be held in executive session.
Through the evening and into the night, witnesses for both sides entered and left the school library where the hearing was held.
