Water is a topic of great interest to North Dakotans: rainfall amounts, measured in hundredths of an inch, are often discussed in detail – how much rain have we had, is it going to rain tomorrow, is it too dry or too wet? Water, whether too much or too little, has shaped life in North Dakota for millennia.
This spring it continues to create problems for the residents of Ryder as they are inundated with rising water.
Water around the city has been steadily increasing this month and now within the past two weeks has not only overtaken Highway 28 but also has come dangerously close to overtaking the transfer station and causing sewers to back up.
