Rodeo at Healing Horse a real thrill
By Logan J Davis
The Northern Badlands Indian Rodeo on Sunday had perfect weather and great riders and that made for a great combination for success and thrills.
The action started at 10 in the morning and went until the early evening capped off by bull riding. There was a wide variety of events of both roping and riding throughout the event. It was a long-anticipated first Northern Badlands Indian Rodeo Association rodeo this year and it was a great time for cowboys, cowgirls and their many fans. Although final results were not available at press time, what can be emphasized about the rodeo is that it had plenty of excitement and the adrenaline was flowing all over the place.
There were competitors who did very well and in the eyes of Jim Baker, every rider and roper is a champion. Baker is the Healing Horse Ranch Director.
“It’s always an exciting time even though the COVID things is going on but despite that, we had great attendance. Everyone who was there was thrilled to finally be at a great rodeo. Every person who showed up really enjoyed themselves and a big shout-out to all who work at the ranch for their efforts and teamwork. We have some great volunteers like our local Parshall nurse Jane Stokke, Tina and Shanaye Packineau, Lloree Dickens, and we had Sadie Young Bird, Kaycee Packineau, Ramera Bremmer, my wife Delphine and Jessi Baker. Luke Spotted Bear was our head judge and there many others who deserve recognition for helping making it a success,” said Baker.
