Parshall's new school will be secure

By Jerry W. Kram
The Parshall School Board approved the first reading of a new security policy that will be implemented once classes begin in the new Parshall school building. The rules will be officially adopted if the second reading is approved at the December board on Dec. 13.
The school district purchased a system known at the Raptor Visitor Management System. The system will include a database assembled by the district’s Student Resource Officer, Catlin Sitting Bear, of people who are not allowed unmonitored access to the school, including registered sex offenders and people with protection orders against them. The database will also include a list of non-staff members who will be regular visitors to the school like vendors and maintenance workers. They will be issued badges for the school year that will allow them to come and go more easily. Parents and other visitors to the school will be issued paper badges that must be displayed while they are in the school.
