Parshall Schools to add daycare
By Jerry W. Kram
The Parshall School Board voted to convert one of the rooms in the Elementary School to be used as a daycare facility.
School Superintendent Beth Schwarz started her presentation on the project by noting that there is a definite need for additional child care in the Parshall area. She said that testing showed that more than half of the students entering kindergarten in Parshall were academically delayed or performing below grade level. She asked the board’s permission to start work on rehabilitating a former kindergarten room in the elementary school to convert it into a daycare. She said the daycare will be called Little Learners.
Schwarz said that her plan was to provide a good learning environment for children ages three to five and help prepare them for school. She said the facility would be a daycare instead of a Pre-K class because of state regulations.
