Parshall school prepared for outbreaks of tuberculosis

By Jerry W. Kram

The Parshall School District has policies and practices in place in the event of an outbreak of contagious diseases, such as the case of tuberculosis that was discovered in New Town last week, said district superintendent John Weidner.

Weidner said the Parshall School Board has a policy in place for significant contagious diseases that school officials would follow in case of an outbreak. The policy emphasizes ensuring that all students have a safe learning environment but also protecting student privacy and medical information.

"There are strong laws related to privacy of student information," Weidner said. "In cases like that, we would be consulting with our attorney to make sure we handle everything correctly and stay calm."
