A proposed Parshall Elementary School expansion that would cost at least $5 million didn’t get a lot of support during a public meeting held Tuesday night.
But it was an initial meeting to gather public input on where this school building needs to go in the future, according to Superintendent Steve Cascaden. He said something has to be done to represent the needs of at least 150 elementary kids and believes that now is the opportune time window for a couple of reasons.
First, Cascaden told the 30 people in attendance that he has applied for a $5 million federal grant that would pay for nearly all of the expansion. There are no guarantees, he said, but Parshall is qualified for this highly competitive grant that covers a nine-state area.
