Parshall in line for new look

Parshall in line for new look

By JILL DENNING GACKLE
Parshall is up for a new look, thanks to a team of artists who are painting a bright future for the community.
The Parshall City Council was approached a month ago by Kadrmas Lee & Jackson, engineers, surveyors and planners, about the city embarking on a plan to upgrade the appearance, services and functionality of the community. KLJ was back Tuesday to describe how a Community Betterment Strategic Plan could be formed through public meetings and planning with the firm.
The council agreed to spend $27,500 with KLJ to research funding, conduct the public meetings and develop the plan for the city. The work is to begin immediately and could come together in a plan by August, depending on the pace the meetings move.
KLJ’s plan calls for improvements to the city’s infrastructure, transportation, recreation and beautification. KLJ has offered to assist the city in finding funding to help make the project possible.
Jim Quirk, senior planner with KLJ, said the plan will give Parshall the best chance for success. He said the first task is to review the city’s current condition and to visit with the city’s residents. Then stakeholders would be involved in determining what are the assets and what could be enhanced.
