Nuxbaaga Celebration is this weekend

Nuxbaaga means people in the Hidatsa language, and people are what is being celebrated at the Nuxbaaga Powwow Grounds six miles south of Parshall this weekend.
“Nuxbaaga is a community celebration,” said Jason Two Crow, president of this year’s celebration. “It includes everybody from all the tribes. People say they enjoy our powwow because it is out in a rural setting still.”
Grand Entries for the Celebration will be Friday, June 22, at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
There will be prizes in several categories for adults, teens (13-17) and juniors (6-12). First prize in the adult categories is $1,300; $400 for teens and $300 for juniors. Categories include Traditional Dance, Grass and Fancy Dance, Jingle and Fancy Shawl. There is an additional adult category for Golden Age (55+) dancers. There will also be daily payouts for tiny tot dancers.
