NDHP receives grant for truck, bus safety

As people living in North Dakota’s oil patch know, the incredible increase in traffic on state highways has made travel more hazardous. A saturation inspection in Mountrail and Williams Counties in August saw a quarter of the trucks inspected pulled of the road for violations of one sort or another.
Just before Labor Day, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announce a $2 million dollar grant to the North Dakota Highway Patrol to improve truck and bus safety. FMCSA Administrator Anne Ferro came to Bismarck to present the grants to state traffic safety leaders.
“We are committed to working side-by-side with our state partners to create a tight net of safety enforcement,” said Ferro. “These grants will enable North Dakota to achieve this goal by providing the resources needed to boost police presence along critical traffic corridors and border crossings across the state.”
