NBIRA celebrates first season finale
By Jerry W. Kram
Chaundee Chase knew it was going to be a long summer as he worked to organize the first season of the Northern Badlands Indian Rodeo Association. With the association’s finals happening this weekend in Bismarck, he looked back with pride at what he and the association committee accomplished and learned in the inaugural season.
“Things have went good even though we had some challenges,” Chase said. “I think that goes along with starting anything new. I think it has been successful in a lot of ways. Overall, I am pretty happy with the way things have gone. They can only get better.”
The NBIRA held it’s kickoff event in Parshall in April and has held rodeos in New Town, Mandaree, and White Shield. Parshall, White Shield, and Mandaree both held multiple events over the summer. The NBIRA Finals will be held at the Missouri Valley Complex in Bismarck on Sept. 6 and 7. The events will start at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12 and seniors 60 and older get in free.
