Mountrail County Record take top award
The Mountrail County Record was recognized as one of the top small newspapers in North Dakota at the North Dakota Newspaper Association Better Newspaper Contest.
The Record received the top award for General Excellence in the 1-1,000 circulation category. Judges said: "A solid community newspaper with good news coverage, features, sports, opinion, photos and design. A complete package. Good work!"
The New Town News and Mountrail County Record took home 15 awards. Along with the Record’s General Excellence Awards, it took home a first place award for reporting and Agricultural Photo. The New Town News had a first place award for Front Page Design and Pictorial Photo. The News was third in General Excellence and the Record was second in Design Excellence.
The New Town News is part of the BHG family of 11 newspapers. BHG newspapers took home 127 awards at the NDNA Convention. Along with the News and Record, other BHG papers receiving awards were:
Center Republican was the Sweepstakes winner in the 1-1,000 category with 11 first places, nine second places, two third places and one honorable mention in the areas of news, advertising and photos.
