Three Affiliated Tribes public relations director Glenda Embry said the 42 people that were let go from tribal employment Nov. 3 were laid off and not terminated.
In a letter to the New Town News last week, former chairman Marcus Levings, who relinquished his title to Tex Hall on Nov. 3, said that more than 100 people were wrongfully terminated, but Embry paints a much different picture.
“According to the human resources department, they were layoffs and not terminations,” Embry said. “There’s a big difference in layoffs and terminations.”
She added, however, that there were terms for cause to terminate several people but none were fired.
