Golf course asks for city support

Golf course asks for city support
By Jerry W. Kram
Kermit the Frog once sang, “It’s not easy being green.” It turns out that golf course greens don’t have it easy either.
The Parshall Golf Association made a presentation to the Parshall City Council asking for assistance in raising money to pay for new artificial greens at the Doc Blatherwick Memorial Golf Course. The group approached the council for assistance at the council’s May meeting and was asked to return with cost estimates and a fundraising plan.
David Diffley and Royce Aslakson gave their pitch to the city council. The cost of installing the new greens will be $265,000. Lakeside State Bank will make an unsecured loan to the organization for that amount and payments will be $38,000 a year. Diffley said the association would need help making those payments.
