Giving handicapped a lift
BY JERRY W. KRAM
Sometimes the simplest things in life can be a challenge when you are in a wheelchair, especially if you have a love for the great outdoors. For the mobility impaired, spending a day
on Lake Sakakawea just got a lot easier.
With contributions from Slawson Exploration and the Van Hook Park Association has installed an electric handicap lift at the popular gateway to fishing on Lake Sakakawea. Park Co-manager Dawn Ritts said this is the first lift of its kind on a lake in North Dakota.
New Town resident Joe Iverson, along with pontoon owner Arden Eide and Park Co-manager Justin Ritts, tested the rig before it was unveiled at the rules meeting of the Van Hook Classic Walleye Tournament.
