The Parshall City Council was given lots of information to think about but took little action at their monthly meeting last Tuesday morning.
Russ Sorensen gave the board a snapshot of what Parshall could become in the near future as he presented the findings of a preliminary landuse plan. He left several plans for the council members to mark up and decide what areas they want labeled for residential use and what areas are prime for incoming developers.
The council members decided to take the time between meetings to further discuss the issue.
In other news, AE2S Advanced Engineering Services gave the council an update on the construction of the new water treatment plant.
Jasper Klein noted that the completion dates of the water treatment plant itself is pretty much done with the exception of the electrical work. The horizontal drilling had punched out into Lake Sakakawea and the workers are taking the drill head off.
However, the project is still behind schedule because the 20 inch line still needs to be pulled back this week. Currently the substantial completion date was set for March 31.
“I can’t sit here today and justify an extension,” city engineer Jasper Klein said. “It’s costing us $500 a day that they are not substantially complete.”
