Four Generations of Valedictorians

When Ava Rogers, a graduating senior from Northshore Plaza High School stepped on to the stage recently to deliver her Valedictorian speech, she did so with a rich history.
Rogers is the Valedictorian of the 2019 class. More notably, she is the fourth member of her family to grace a stage in that capacity. She follows in the footsteps of her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Rogers also brought a part her great grandmother’s speech with her. The women in her family all graduated from Plaza, Makoti or Plaza-North Shore schools.
Now. Ava is a bright, young woman and she recognized that perhaps not all of her great grandmother’s message would meet audience interest today.
“I wanted to honor her in my message, but still I wanted to be able to bring my own message as well,” she said.
