Fort Berthold holds 7th Annual Diabetes 5K/10K
By Logan J. Davis
There was a great turnout for the Fort Berthold Diabetes 7th Annual 5K/10K that sent many energetic participants on their way around two different courses around Four Bears Park and Bridge.
With no rain coming down for a change last Saturday morning, Mother Nature was being nice to the ones who were ready for the event.
Prior to the horn sounding the takeoff, Fort Berthold Diabetes Program Director Jared Eagle, program staff members, along with some volunteers were busy signing up people and handing out snacks and water to the participants.
Many people from all across the state took part in the walk/run and there was even a young lady from Sidney, Mont., who ran the 10K that morning. There were also many of our fur-bearing friends who ran or walked with their masters. It was really a family event that included the ones who have paws.
Running or walking is a way to keep diabetes at bay or keep a person from developing it, said Eagle. The combination of diet and vigorous exercise helps anyone who is facing diabetes and a multitude of other ailments.
