Fallen soldiers honored

Fallen soldiers honoredOfficials from the Three Affiliated Tribes honored 13 of their own Tuesday dedicating a Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial at the Three Affiliated Tribes Museum. Thirteen flags flapped in the strong wind while each flag pole was manned by a former servicemember or family member. The flags, which represent each Soldier, have flown over the nation’s capitol in Washington, D.C. Tuesday, the flags flew high above individual monuments honoring the troops. A larger monument is positioned in the center of the half moon courtyard on the east side of the museum. It states the servicemembers will never be forgotten. U.S. Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., was joined by tribal chairman Marcus Wells, Jr. and others to officially recognize those from the reservation who have lost their lives in battle.
