Jeff Zueger is concerned that an Environmental Protection Agency ruling two weeks ago to allow an additional 5 percent of ethanol in gasoline is going to confuse North Dakota motorists.
Zueger, the chairman of the North Dakota Ethanol Council, said North Dakota’s ethanol industry supports approval of a higher blend of alcohol mixed in gas, but calls it a partial ruling and is waiting for additional information.
The current partial waiver for E-15 is only for vehicles with a model year 2007 or newer. Zueger said the EPA will rule later this year on whether to allow the E-15 in vehicles dating back to 2001.
