Dignitaries break ground on Parshall-Three Affiliated Tribes water supply project
Dorgan applauds cooperation between city and tribe
A groundbreaking ceremony of the Parshall-Three Affiliated Tribes regional water supply project Saturday afternoon is an important investment that will provide clean water and help the local economy.
Numerous dignitaries attended the groundbreaking on the shore of the Missouri River including Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., and Rep. Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D.
Under an agreement between the city of Parshall and Three Affiliated Tribes, Parshall will construct the new water intake and treatment plant and Three Affiliated Tribes will construct the pipeline from the treatment plant to Parshall and other users, including the northeast segments of the Fort Berthold Rural Water System. The system will also have the capacity to serve future users, and will support the growing energy industry in the area.
“This water supply system comes through great cooperation between the city of Parshall and Three Affiliated Tribes, and it will provide residents with clean, reliable drinking water,” said Dorgan. “This will be a boon to economic development in the area, and the construction of these projects will also create local jobs. I was glad to be able to help bring funding to this project and work with Parshall and Three Affiliated Tribes on their joint agreement.”
