Derby Day in Parshall
By Edna Sailor
It might have been foggy that day, but the Pinewood Derby participants were excited and completely focused on their cars and their races. Inside kids found checkered flags and celebratory race décor to greet them.
The excitement was evident everywhere. As families entered the hall, they registered and Pastor John Morley was on hand again this year making sure the cars were within the allowed weight limit. Participants fashioned their car entries in all shapes and designs. Eager contestants lined their cars on pit row, sometimes with parental help and even helped with each other. The racers made last minute adjustments to cars as needed. Twenty children registered to race. Adults got in on the act this year with their own cars later.
