Canadian Pacific Railway has announced the CP Rail Holiday Train will be making its final U.S. stop at the Main Street railroad crossing in Carpio.
The train that left LaColle, Quebec Nov. 26, is scheduled to roll into the Ward County community at 9:30 Thursday night, Dec. 17, and several performers will entertain for about a half hour before departing for performances in North Portal and Estevan, Saskatchewan.
Carpio, which is 70 miles northeast of New Town and 53 miles northeast of Parshall, sees hundreds of people from all over northwestern North Dakota when the holiday train is in town.
This is the 11th year the brainchild of producer Randall Prescott has been rolling across the U.S. and Canada collecting food and monetary donations for local food banks in exchange for holiday music. Last year’s donations at Carpio benefitted the Kenmare Food Bank.
