County Commission funds Parshall Fire Department

Approximately two months after the Mountrail County Commission was chastised for allocating $250,000 to the Stanley Rural Fire District for fire fighting equipment without informing other departments in the county, the Parshall Rural Fire Protection District has been granted a similar allocation.
After Parshall fire department personnel Monte Billadeau, Roger Hovey and Kyle Christianson met with the commission, it was decided $215,000 will go to the Parshall department to fund a pumper truck with foam capability, equipment that is typically used on oil field fires.
The money comes from a $500,000 fund the commission created late last summer to assist the Stanley department that is known as the Rural Fire & Ambulance Assistance Budget.
After it was decided Stanley will receive the money, commission members knew the other departments would be seeking the same, so $250,000 was set aside in which departments could apply out of the 2011 budget, according to Commissioner David Hynek.
Hynek told the New Town News and Mountrail County Record in October that Stanley wasn’t favored over Parshall, New Town and Plaza departments and that all departments are welcome to apply for monies that would become available when the 2011 budget goes into effect. He also said the fund would go back to $500,000 in 2012.
But Parshall will now receive $215,000 out of the 2010 budget provided department officials show invoices of the equipment purchased.
