Despite having only two city council members present to conduct business, the Parshall City Council voted during a special meeting Tuesday to allocate $50,000 to Advanced Engineering in Bismarck to conduct an energy impact planning study.
Council members Tom Huus and Sandy Folden voted in favor of the motion following a long discussion with Russ Sorenson and Mark Lambrecht of Advanced in the wake of N.D. Department of Commerce meetings in northwestern North Dakota. Commerce Director Shane Goettle has targeted six communities in the northwest, including Parshall for this study that will provide data on oil impact.
The six communities most greatly impacted by oil, according to the Department of Commerce include Parshall, New Town, Stanley, Tioga, Watford City and Williston. According to the criteria, individual communities may or may not choose to participate. If not, others will be chosen.
