Close race for city council
There were two spots open on the Parshall Council in Tuesday’s election and three candidates are still in the running.
Catherine Moreno is leading the race with 87 votes, but there is a tie for second place between Robert Morenski and Sevant Taft at 83 votes. These are unofficial results. According to Parshall City Auditor Kelly Woessner, there are three questionable ballots to be evaluated and absentee ballots postmarked before election day may still come in.
The election will be officially canvassed by Mountrail County early next week. Should the candidates remain tied after the official canvass, the North Dakota Century Code indicates the election could be decided by drawing a name out of a hat.
