Clinic opening set for October 17

After fighting for funding for nearly a decade and two years of construction, there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the doctors and nurses looking forward to moving into the modern, spacious Elbowoods Memorial Health Clinic on College Drive in New Town.
The Tribal Health Center will finish moving equipment and personnel to the new facility from the Minne-Tohe Clinic over the next week and the Elbowoods clinic will start seeing patients on Monday, Oct. 17. The clinic will offer primary care, lab tests, radiology, pharmacy services, behavioral health, environmental health and injury prevention and public health services. The Tribal Health Administration offices will also be housed at the clinic.
“We will be relocating all the services from the Minne-Tohe Clinic over to that site in addition to public health and behavioral health,” said Dawn Berg, chief executive officer of the clinic. “It’s all happening very quickly now, so everybody is as busy as they can be. We are prioritizing what needs to be moved in the next few days and weeks. We want to strategize so we don’t leave it all to the end.
“The tribe and the contractors and clinic staff have all been planning this for two years,” Berg continued. “Now that we are getting down to the final hours it is really like seeing a puzzle come together.”
