City sales triple over 2017

The Bakken returned as the engine of economic growth in North Dakota in 2018 with area cities and counties seeing 25 to 45 percent growth. Parshall saw the biggest rebound in the state, with taxable sales and purchases more than tripling over 2017, growing from $5 million to $22 million.
Mountrail and McKenzie Counties saw sales and purchases grow by more the 43 percent over the year before. Williams County’s sales and purchases grew by more than 25 percent. Areas adjoining the central oil counties saw more modest growth. McLean County declined slightly over the year before and Ward County grew by a little more than 3 percent.
Statewide, calendar year 2018 taxable sales and purchases totaled $20.24 billion, a 12.54 percent increase from the $17.98 billion total in 2017.
