Christmas memories on the North Shore

By Edna Sailor
Church Bells, gingerbread cookies, gently falling snow and thoughts about Santa Claus all herald the Christmas season.
For many of us those memories harken back to a time when life seemed to move more slowly and simply than life happens today. Ann Halden of Parshall remembers hers well.
“We always put out cookies for Santa when I was young. I also remember the year I asked for and got a green bicycle from Santa. Then after my kids were grown up and gone, I wanted a green bicycle again o I bought one,”
One other gift is memorable for Halden
“One of the best things that Santa brought me was a ‘poodle skirt’ and one just like it for my mom. It was the greatest thing.” she said.
Halden also recalls Christmases of great change in her life.
